Ear Tubes

Ear tubes are small plastic drains that are placed in the ear drums to drain fluid from the middle ear and ventilate the ears. This procedure reduces pressure and discomfort in the ears, along with improving hearing.  These tubes usually last 6 to 12 months, and then fall out by themselves; then the ear drums heal shortly thereafter.  Occasionally longer term tubes are inserted and may stay in place for several years.
